The U.S. Army Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, located here, plans to conduct several courses at the National Defense Transportation Association-U.S. Transportation Command Fall Meeting, October 7 to 10, 2019, at St. Louis Union Station, St. Louis, Missouri.

One of USTRANSCOM’s three component commands, SDDC plans and executes origin-to-destination surface delivery of our warfighters’ equipment and supplies.

SDDC-led classes consist of a Carrier workshop, addressing domestic shipment actions to move military freight by rail, barge, and truck; an Installation Transportation Officer workshop, encompassing domestic shipment planning and other actions required to transport DoD cargo; a Safety Day workshop, discussing efforts to evaluate and enhance the safety performance of Transportation Protection Service ammunition and explosives carriers; and presentations on DoD shipping container management and SDDC transportation business systems. In addition, SDDC Commander U.S. Army Major General Stephen Farmen will teach a class on key aspects of the defense transportation system.

More than 65 courses, instructed by military, Federal government, and industry professionals, comprise this year’s Transportation Academy, which since its initiation five years ago, has become the foundation of the co-sponsored, world-class logistics event.

According to the USTRANSCOM deputy project officer for the seventh annual Fall Meeting, greater emphasis has been placed on education, training, and crosstalk through the expanded class offerings, which now comprise about two-thirds of the premier defense transportation forum.
