AF STEM grant gives students a reason to reach for the skies

A GoPro attached to a high-altitude computer and floating over Illinois records the sun and horizon over earth, which was done as part of a final project for a group of eighth grade students from three schools, Nov. 30, 2018. The balloon reached a maximum altitude of 22.5 miles and recorded a temperature low of 67 degrees Fahrenheit. The balloon launch was made possible through an Air Force science, technology, engineering, and mathematics grant.
