Scott AFB modernizes C-21 fleet with avionics upgrades

A view of the new “glass cockpit” for the C-21 aircraft. After 35 years of C-21 operations at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, the aircraft has undergone a $38 million avionics upgrade to comply with the Federal Aviation Administration’s mandate to keep congested airspace safe. The upgrades include new communication equipment which enables aircrew and air traffic control to better relay real-time aircraft parameters. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Daniel Garcia)
