  • C-130J upgrades lead in tactical airlift power

    In 2020, the C-130J Super Hercules inventory began upgrading. The newest model arrived at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, on June 23, 2023, and is the first Block 8.1 aircraft assigned to the 317th Airlift Wing.

    All Airmen and aircraft from the 317th AW now have six-to-eight month dwell time before the next deployment. This will be the longest period of time that all Airmen have been at home station since the start of the war on terror.
