Deployed Travis sergeant dies from accident injuries

TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- A senior official here expressed condolences on behalf of the base to the family of Master Sgt. Jude Mariano who died Feb. 10, five days after sustaining serious injuries in a two-car collision while deployed to a military base in Qatar.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Master Sgt. Jude Mariano," said Col. Jim Rennie, Vice Commander, 15th Expeditionary Mobility Task Force. "He was a true warrior and professional, and will be dearly missed by those who who knew him and worked with him."

Master Sgt. Mariano was deployed to the Combined Air Operations Center where he served as an information manager in the Air Mobility Division.

He was one of five military members in the vehicle. All five were transported to General Hammed Hospital in Qatar. Two were treated and released. The other two noncommissioned officers remain hospitalized.

The incident is under investigation.
