Expeditionary Center instructor shares rigors of security forces Raven training
Tech. Sgt. David Balista, a student in the Air Force Phoenix Raven Training Course 08-D and also an instructor from the U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center's 421st Combat Training Squadron, uses "verbal judo" to deescalate the temperament of an "agressor" during an evaluation session for the Raven course on a Fort Dix, N.J., range Aug. 20, 2008. The Raven course, taught by the 421st CTS, provides specialized training to security forces Airmen in areas such as aircraft security, self defense and verbal communications. Upon graduation, the students receive their Raven number and are certified to fly and protect Air Force aircraft at austere airfields around the world. Sergeant Balista, an aerospace ground equipment craftsman, took the course as part of cadre training and career broadening. (U.S. Air Force Photo/Tech. Sgt. Scott Mueller)
