Airman 1st Class Jaspreet Singh, the first Airman at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey to wear a U.S. Air Force approved turban as a uniform item stands in front of a fire truck at Fire Station 1, Joint Base MDL, Dec. 5, 2019. When he enlisted almost two years ago, he had to take off his turban and cut his hair for the first time in his life. He took the first opportunity after training to request a religious accommodation waiver from the U.S Air Force. After a year of waiting, Singh wears a turban again.
