DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS
***IMPORTANT AMC POLICY UPDATE***
EFFECTIVE AS OF 25 JUL 2025
POLICY: Effective immediately all service members and dependents attempting to utilize DoD travel must adhere to the following requirements:
1. Passenger or sponsor must provide DoD ID or passport number for sign-up. DoD ID number may be retrieved from MilConnect website: https://milconnectpki.dmdc.osd.mil/milconnect/. Proof of sponsorship can be obtained through the installation’s Military Personnel Office. An example of sponsorship validation is the DD Form 1172-2 or command sponsorship letter.
2. Uniformed services member dependents under the age of 14 must travel with the sponsor or eligible parent and must possess a Federal-, State-, local-, or tribal government-issued identification. Federal-, State-, local-, or tribal government-issued identification is explained as a government issued ID from these government agencies including “local” meaning a County, City issued form of identification. Examples of acceptable documentation: Identification issued in the Dependent’s name from the above government agencies. This does not include a local school ID unless it is issued by a government agency. A raised seal birth certificate from the city, county, state, etc. This does not include a hospital certificate of birth. A passport is also an example of identification if available. What does this mean? Dependents aged 14 and above must have an ID card.
a. The above proof of sponsorship is the only valid document accepted for travel. Other documentation, i.e., a birth certificate will not be accepted.
