CMSgt Raun M. Howell is the Command Chief Master Sergeant, Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. As the commander’s principal senior enlisted advisor, he counsels on the effective employment of 107,000 Total Force Airmen from 100 worldwide locations to support Rapid Global Mobility operations with a fleet of 1,100 aircraft. He delivers and executes commander’s intent, builds formations of individuals and teams of teams across the command, leading with dignity and respect while focusing on developing mission-ready Airmen who are resilient and trained for combat in the most complex and contested environments. This development is imperative to executing the command’s core missions of command and control (C2) over inter-theater and intra-theater airlift, air refueling, aeromedical evacuation, global air mobility operations, and presidential and senior leader air transport, while serving as the air component for U.S. Transportation Command, supporting U.S. joint forces, allies, and partners.
CMSgt Howell is a native of Gainesville, Florida. He entered the Air Force in July of 1997 and graduated from the Personnel Apprentice Course in November of 1997 at Keesler Air Force Base. He has held a variety of positions as a personnelist, and has served as a technical training instructor, Professional Military Education Instructor, and in various Senior Enlisted Leader positions throughout his tenure in the Air Force. He has also served as the Special Advisor and Senior Executive Assistant to the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, Headquarters Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the Air University, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.
