AF Fitness Centers provide the base population with a state of the art cardiovascular and strength training equipment. Bases have a variety of equipment available which may include treadmills, lifecycles, cross trainers, Nautilus, Body Master, and/or Cybex selectorized weight machines, as well as a selection of free weights and benches. Many installations also have gymnasiums, racquetball courts, aerobic rooms, spinning rooms, locker rooms, saunas and child play areas. Fitness Centers also offer a variety of free and fee based classes and services which may include Fitness improvement, Spinning, Step, Yoga, Pilates, Core/Abs, Zumba, Martial Arts, Massage Therapy, and Personal Trainers. Air Force Sports Program
The AFSP is designed to allow active duty, National Guard and reserve Air Force personnel an opportunity to participate at the Air Force, Armed Forces, national and international sports events. The AFSP is comprised of 15 different sports. To apply for the program, athletes must submit a completed AF Form 303, Request for USAF Specialized Sports Training. Intramural Sports Program
Intramural Sports contribute to the overall fitness of base personnel while promoting unit esprit de corp. Intramural programs may include: flag football, basketball, darts, racquetball, volleyball, soccer, softball, bowling, golf, and numerous other competitive activities. Health and Wellness Center
The Wright-Patterson Medical Center Health and Wellness Center promotes nutrition, exercise, stress reduction, tobacco cessation and more. It offers education, counseling and training in accordance with the Air Force Fitness Program. Free classes are open to active duty and retired military and their dependents (age 18 and older), and DOD civilian employees. For more information, contact your local Health and Wellness Center.
Are you ready to Get Up, Get Out, Get Fit? The AF FitFactor Program, currently in its fifth season, promotes physical activity and healthy nutrition choices for youth between the ages of 6-18. The FitFactor program stimulates interest and awareness of the importance of healthy lifestyle choices for youth. FitFactor is a web-based program in which youth earn points and prizes for making healthy choices. For more information, contact your installation Youth Center or www.afgetfit.com.
The AF FitFamily Program launched in Jan 2010 as part of the "Year of the Air Force Family". This program is based on the Air Force FitFactor Program. Families will register as a team, earn points and achieve levels for participating in family activities and making healthy cooking/eating selections. Youth Sports Program & Instructional Classes
AF Youth Centers offer a variety of organized youth sports which follow the National Standards for Youth Sports. Youth Sports create an atmosphere where youth have fun while playing the game. All volunteer coaches are screened, trained, and certified through the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS). Examples of sports offered include T-ball, baseball, soccer, flag football, floor hockey, volleyball, and basketball. A variety of youth instructional classes are offered at the Youth Center to include dance, gymnastics, martial arts, fine arts, piano, guitar, and a host of other exciting opportunities. Get out and have fun! Outdoor recreation programs typically include organized activities: trips, hikes, bike rides; referral systems (find out the best places to hike, fish, or ski); equipment support: rent bikes, skis, campers, kayaks, tents, etc.; customer services: Get custom fitted for skis, bikes, sleeping bags, etc.; and may offer outdoor recreation related customer services like fishing licenses or ski tickets ... and so much more! Air Force golf courses offer programs, promotions, and services including; Pro shops, snack bars, driving ranges, tournaments and catering on par with the civilian golf industry. Contact your Golf Course club for details.
Link Up to Golf
: This new player program makes learning the game simpler, fun and more affordable than ever before. Designed for brand new, inexperienced golfers, as well as infrequent and former golfers, Link Up 2 Golf provides a relaxed learning atmosphere without the intimidation factor with emphasis on having fun. 8 Hours of group instruction & 3 on-course experiences. Fun atmosphere; welcome environment, meet new friends. Free use of rental clubs and range balls during clinics. Instruction on how to play the game, etiquette, lingo, etc. Chance to play the course 3 times (3-4 holes each.
Golf 4 Kids
, a new youth player development program which makes learning the game easy and affordable, but most of all, fun. Golf 4 Kids is designed to give children ages 8-13 years old the love of a game they'll play for a lifetime. Provides participants with a solid foundation about the game of golf, including swing mechanics, etiquette, terminology, proper behavior, and how to maintain speed of play. For only $49, participants receive eight hours of small group instruction three supervised on-course playing experiences. Children are divided into groups of no more than six students, and are grouped by age from 8-10 years and 11-13 years. Participants receive a Golf 4 Kids logo t-shirt, golf towel, neon tee pack and bag tag, rules and etiquette brochures and a graduation certificate. Junior clubs will be provided for all lessons. Children who are family members of authorized patrons of all branches of military service, including active duty, retired, DoD civilians, are eligible to participate.
Bowling Centers are complete with automatic scoring, cosmic bowling, bumper bowling, arcade games, pro shops and Snack bars. Bowling lessons are available almost any time of the day. Tips are provided to those bowlers who wish to improve their game. The Bowling Centers offer a calendar of events that provide a good balance between organized and open bowling. Leagues, a variety of tournaments and youth programs are offered throughout the year. Contact your local Bowling Center for details.
Build IT Summer '10 Bowling Promotion
: is unique opportunity for bowling managers at participating bases to brainstorm creative ideas or consider a current or recurring promotion to develop their own program between 1 May - 31 August (minimum 4 weeks). Contact your local bowling center for details.
World Wide Bowling Program
: Open to children ages 5 to 8, 9 to 11, 12 to 14 and 15 to 18, with separate boy and girls divisions. When bowling is complete, scores are mailed to Air Force Services Headquarters to determine High Game and High Series in each age group and division.
