2011 AMC Icon final competition set Published Oct. 19, 2011 By Air Mobility Command Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The 2011 edition of the Air Mobility Command "Icon" competition is set for Oct. 20 at the Scott Club here for 10 competitors from across AMC. Based loosely on the television show "American Idol," AMC Icon is an AMC commander's initiative to showcase the vocal talents of AMC Airmen. Each AMC base holds Icon contests in July and August to determine their representatives for the command final which takes place at Scott AFB. Each of the 10 participants were winners at base-level competition. Competitors for the 2011 Icon title are: - MacDill AFB, Fla. -- Chastity Sullivan - Little Rock AFB, Ark. -- Staff Sgt. Clint Yager - McConnell AFB, Kan. -- 1st Lt. Jonathan Lanning - Fairchild AFB, Wash. -- Capt. Manuela Peters - Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. -- Senior Airman Francis Conrad - Scott AFB -- Airman 1st Class Timothy Sentz - Joint Base Charleston, S.C. -- Staff Sgt. Melvin Penaflorida - Travis AFB, Calif. -- Staff Sgt. Kecia Harris - Grand Forks AFB, N.D. -- Senior Airman John Maness - Dover AFB, Del. - Senior Airman Naomi Scott Comedian Walter Campbell will be the master of ceremonies for the competition and the guest judges include "Smash" from the The Smash Band, Mandy Murphy from Fox 2 News of Saint Louis, and Dr. Stella Markou, director of vocal studies at the University of Missouri-Saint Louis.
