Bio-environmental specialists, EOD find nothing of significance at Scott mail center Published Sept. 1, 2011 SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill -- Scott Air Force Base bio-environmental specialists and explosive ordnance disposal technicians have found nothing of significance at the Official Mail Center here. At approximately 9:30 a.m., two U.S. postal workers and a military mail specialist experienced adverse reactions to handling mail. The three received medical care at Memorial Hospital and were released. Thirteen other personnel were decontaminated on site as a precautionary measure, and one other person later self-identified and went through the decontamination process. U.S. Postal inspectors are continuing to investigate the cause of the adverse reactions. The Official Mail Center will remain closed tomorrow while adjacent buildings have been reopened.
