Scott Airmen promote 'resiliency' during Wingman Day efforts Published Feb. 23, 2011 By Senior Airman Andrew Davis 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The 375th Air Mobility Wing conducted a full day of events Feb. 18 designed to reinforce the Wingman concept, build resilient Airmen and focus on unit health. For Airman 1st Class Casey Sattler, 375th Comptroller Squadron, this was his first Wingman Day. "I've been at Scott for only two months, and I really didn't know what to expect," said Airman Sattler. "At first I thought it would be a long day with a lot of dry briefings. But, it turned out really good, with a lot of good conversation and words of wisdom from senior leadership in my shop that really helped me." Starting first thing in the morning Airmen were briefed by members from the Scott Mental Health Clinic and the Health and Wellness Center. "The morning brief was one of my favorites of the day," said Airman Sattler. "Captain Temple, from mental health, said, 'being a Wingman is not just a special duty, it's just something you have inside you.' His statement really made me think about how important it is to be a good wingman and something we as an Air Force should keep in our minds." In addition to the morning briefs, Airmen of the 375th CPTS went back to their work center to play games and participate in a group discussion about mental and physical health. "We played charades as a group to start out the discussion on mental and physical health," said Airman Sattler. "I think this helped to open everyone up and really share their knowledge and expertise with the group. "As a younger Airman listening to higher ranking Airmen talk about their experience and know-how in certain subjects really helped me to open up and share within the group," he added. The day ended with lunch and bowling at the Scott AFB's Stars and Strikes Bowling Center. "I think I took away a lot from the day," said Airman Sattler. "Sometimes with our busy schedule we forget about what being a good Wingman is all about and having the opportunity to take time out today and get together as squadron really shows that we are here for each other on- and off-duty."
