Air Mobility Command's Travis Air Force Base in California is one of two Air Force finalists for the 2011 Commander- in-Chief's Installation Excellence Award.

In a November announcement from the Department of the Air Force, Travis AFB will compete with Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, to earn the Air Force nod for the award.

"Congratulations to all of this year's nominees," said Lt. Gen. Loren M. Moreno, in the letter announcing the finalists Nov. 1. "The outstanding contributions, innovation and commitment to excellence of the people who operate and maintain our installations and support the mission of the United States Air Force are clearly evident in all the submissions.

In referring to the finalists, General Reno said, "Your hard work, devotion to duty, and selfless dedication has been recognized. You truly are the best of the best."

Air Mobility Command Commander, Gen. Raymond E. Johns Jr., also commented on Travis' nomination for the award.

"Please join me congratulating the men and women of Team Travis on their selection as an Air Force finalist for the 2011 Commander- in-Chief's Installation Excellence Award," General Johns said. "Team Travis' hard working people and clearly stellar installation are recognized by Headquarters Air Force as a model for others to follow. We wish them much success in the upcoming AF-level competition."

The 2011 Installation Excellence Selection Board will visit the two finalists in January 2011 to determine the Air Force winner.
