Capt. Jamie Turner performs quarterly continuation training on a C-17 flight simulator while at Joint Base Charleston, S.C., on Sept. 7, 2010. While in the simulator she will practice emergency training, routine flying and instrument procedures. Captain Turner was selected to attend the Ironman World Championship at Kona, Hawaii. Captain Turner was selected as one of 1,800 Iroman World Championship competitors. She will test her physical and mental endurance against one of the biggest challenges the sports world has to offer. Captain Turner will swim 2.4-miles through ocean waves, bike 112-miles and run a 26.2-mile marathon through challenging lava-covered terrain. Captain Turner is a pilot with the 315th Airlift Wing.
