A vintage Russian-built MiG 17 jet participated in an aerial demonstration for the 2010 Airpower Over The Midwest Airshow on Sept. 11, 2010, at Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

The MiG 17, flown by Mr. Randy Ball, is an aircraft made famous during the Vietnam War. The MiG 17 flown at the Scott AFB airshow was restored over a four-year period and is one of only a handful of vintage jets flying the North American airshow circuit, officials said.

Tens of thousands of people attended the two-day airshow that included not only the MiG 17, but also aircraft from the World War II era all the way to the modern day.
