AMC Icon 'affiliate' registration deadline fast approaching Published Aug. 11, 2010 Air Mobility Command Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Air Mobility Command officials want to remind AMC personnel assigned to geographically separated affiliate units that they are eligible to compete in the 2010 AMC Icon talent competition. The deadline for entries is Aug. 14. Based loosely on the television show "American Idol," AMC Icon is an AMC commander's initiative to showcase the vocal talents of AMC Airmen. Each AMC base holds Icon contests in July and August to determine their representatives for the command final, which will take place Oct. 21 at Scott AFB, Ill. AMC personnel assigned to guard, Reserve, en route and tenant units geographically separated from an AMC base are encouraged to compete under the "affiliate" category. However, personnel stationed on or near an AMC base must enter the contest via the base-level talent competition. Geographically separated affiliate contestants should submit a letter of intent through their unit commander to Mr. Sam Parker, Headquarters AMC Services, via email sam.parker@scott.af.mil. Contestants should submit their two- to five-minute audio or video entry with a signed statement authenticating the performance. The best affiliate performer will be flown to Scott AFB for the command final. See the 2010 Icon program guide and rules at www.amcsvs.com for the complete list of requirements.
