Sergeant Gray - AMC Honor Guard Program Manager of the Year Published June 23, 2010 By Hannah Hill 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Master Sgt. David Gray, Scott Air Force Base Honor Guard superintendent, was named Air Mobility Command's 2009 Honor Guard Program Manager of the Year. During 2009 Sergeant Gray orchestrated 2,000 Honor Guard missions and directed Honor Guard teams spanning 110,000 square miles and six states. He led a total force effort to leverage 20 Air National Guard and Reserve members to perform 530 funerals which saved $33,000 in temporary duty costs. His leadership sharpened Firing Party drill and fined tuned casket carrying and flag folding techniques. He also organized AMC's all star team, hosting 28 members from across AMC to perform at an Order of the Sword presentation. His work to learn Dignified Transfer Team ceremony procedures ensured honorable journeys home for two fallen heroes. He's also a role model to children, teaching 50 students flag skills and Honor Guard protocol. He also visited local high schools to conduct weekly drill and ceremony training, and mentored 20 cadets.
