Blue Angels air show a success
U.S. Navy Blue Angels put on a soaring performance over the Charleston Harbor in Charleston, S.C., April 17, 2010. The flying squadron's six demonstration pilots fly the F/A-18 Hornet, which are former fleet aircraft that are nearly combat ready. Significant modifications are made to each aircraft to make them performance jets versus fighters, but the modifications can be reversed to make the jets combat ready. With the outbreak of the Korean War in 1950, the Blue Angels and their jets ceased aerobatic demonstrations and formed the nucleus of Fighter Squadron 191, which served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Princeton.
