Air Force, AMC invests in productivity improvement projects Published Dec. 16, 2009 By Bekah Clark Air Mobility Command Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- AMC kicked off an awareness campaign for the Air Force Productivity Enhancing Capital Investment, or PECI, Program, which runs Dec. 1 through Dec. 31. The program provides funding for productivity improvement projects at Air Force bases worldwide. While the details of each PECI project may vary, they all have two key elements in common - measurable benefits and real savings. "Ultimately, the fundamental purpose of the PECI program is to improve the Air Force," said program officials. "Your project does this through the cost savings from the investment, but more importantly it is finding a way to improve combat readiness, enhance unit capability and conserve critical Air Force resources. You can take pride knowing that you've made a positive impact!" PECI is designed to identify investment opportunities that provide measurable savings and produce a return on investment within two to four years. Each year, PECI invests an average of $10-11 million, and nets an average life cycle savings of approximately $112 million. Previous investments have funded a variety of productivity improvements, from energy efficiency measures and technology upgrades, to major equipment and facility purchases that increase base capabilities. To highlight the PECI Program's impact AF-wide, Air Mobility Command is sponsoring their Awareness Campaign throughout December. AMC uses this effort to inform Airmen and civilian employees about PECI's significance and stimulate their interest in submitting investment project ideas designed to increase productivity and deliver cost savings in their own workcenter. To spur AMC involvement, the first 50 individuals from AMC to propose actionable project ideas through the "Pre-Submission Worksheet" on the official AF PECI Program website may elect to receive one of the following: Gym Bag; Coffee & Travel Mug set; Portfolio; One-dozen Golf Balls; or a Shoe-Shine Travel Kit. To learn more about how PECI can upgrade equipment, modernize facilities and increase your capabilities, access the AF PECI Program website at https://peciweb.seguetech.com.
