McChord Reservist is Airman of the Year

Senior Airman Channel Bolton-Scholl, 446th Maintenance Squadron, McChord Air Force Base, Wash., is the 2008 Airman of the Year in the Air Force Reserve Command. She earned this honor based on her contributions to the mission, her display of leadership, and her dedication in the Air Force Reserve. She grew up in Eugene, Ore. Airman Bolton-Scholl joined the Air Force Reserve in March 2005.

McChord Reservist earns prestigious Air Force award

MCCHORD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- A Reservist from the 446th Maintenance Squadron here was selected as one of the 12 Outstanding Airman of the Year Award today.

This is the first time a member of the 446th Airlift Wing has gone to the top in this annual competition.

Staff Sgt. Channel Bolton-Scholl, a crew chief with 446th MXS, was chosen by an Air Force selection board at the Air Force Personnel Center at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. The board selected 12 Airmen for recognition based on superior leadership, job performance and personal achievements.

Airman Bolton-Scholl embodies all the traits Air Force Reserve Command is looking for in their Airman of the Year, according to her supervisor, Master Sgt. Keith Chase, 446th MXS aero repair section chief.

"She excels at her job and the task at hand," said Sergeant Chase. "She is a very hard worker. I never have to tell her to get anything done after she is shown the job tasks for the day."

Sergeant Bolton-Scholl is currently deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. This is her second deployment to the area of operations.
