AMC, AFA host AMC Industry Days at Scott AFB Published April 21, 2009 Headquarters AMC Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The Air Force Association and Air Mobility Command are hosting AMC Industry Days 2009 at Scott AFB June 30 - July 1. The objective of the event is to discuss AMC's current and long-range research, development, test and evaluation needs in a symposium-like atmosphere. Industry Days will focus on the following areas: -- Aerial port transformation -- Directed energy weapons protection -- Energy efficiencies -- renewable/aviation/ground -- Joint Future Theater Lifter technical objectives -- Large aircraft defensive systems -- Operations in a chemical/biological environment -- Operations in a GPS-denied environment -- Operations on unprepared surfaces -- Passive Radio Frequency Identification -- Precision airdrop improvements -- Secure airborne communications -- Self-contained approach and landing The focus areas are subject to change, and updates will be posted, as required. "Industry Days provides a teaming environment between Air Mobility Command and representatives from the commercial, research, and academic sectors. In addition to fulfilling the traditional Air Force, air mobility, and aeromedical evacuation missions, we need to plan for operations in more austere, isolated locations. For this reason, we want to ensure AMC is positioned to take advantage of both innovative processes and technologies. By articulating our capability gaps, we hope industry and research leaders will match their strategies with our strategic mission view to provide effective products, at affordable costs, ready to perform the mission when we need them." - Brig. Gen. Taco Gilbert, Director, Strategic Plans, Requirements, and Programs. Briefing sessions are the primary medium for this forum, with two senior leader panels. Meeting location is the Global Reach Planning Center, Building 1907, at Scott AFB. Industry, academia, research lab, and non-Scott AFB government personnel who would like to participate in the conference must submit a registration form no later than 11:59 p.m. (CDT) on June 19. Because of space limitations, attendance is limited to the first 150 registrants.
