AFGLSC opens new headquarters at Scott Published March 4, 2009 By Senior Airman Andrew Davis 375th Airlift Wing Public Affairs Office SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The Air Force Global Logistics Support Center opened its new headquarters building here during a ribbon cutting ceremony Feb. 26. The ceremonial ribbon cutting marked the opening of the first of two buildings being constructed for the command. Building 1515, which is located across from the Scott Clinic on Ward Drive, features a variety of innovations that will help improve processes, according to the AFGLSC commander, Maj. Gen. Gary McCoy. "The new facility features an open floor plan and a command and control center to help us support the warfighter 24/7," said the general. According to Col. Joan Cornuet, 635th SCM Group commander, funding for the new building was provided by the Base Closure and Realignment Commission, Pacific Air Forces, U.S. Air Forces Europe, U.S. Air Force Central Command, and other Air Force major commands. The center operates as the hub for supply chain management, networking logistics experts from around the Air Force to connect wholesale and retail logistics; as well as seamlessly integrating and overseeing all logistic processes, technology and resources. Their goal is to deliver end-to-end warfighter support more rapidly and at a reduced cost. "When our nation calls, we are ready to support the greatest Air Force in the world, and we work around the clock to deliver capabilities to the warfighter, on cost and on time every day," said General McCoy. AFGLSC, a component of Air Force Material Command, will employee an estimated 4,500 people on its total force team. AFGLSC is comprised of two wings, a direct reporting group, and various sub-units. In addition to Scott AFB, AFGLSC operating locations include: Tinker AFB, Okla.; Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio; Hill AFB, Utah; Robins AFB, Ga.; Langley AFB, Va.; and Gunter AFS, Ala.
