Pope Honor Guard named AMC's best for 2007

POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. --  Pope's Honor Guard has been named Air Mobility Command's Honor Guard Team of the Year for 2007.  The team had many accomplishment and were specifically requested for the color guard, firing party and Taps at Dale Earnhardt International Headquarters for a nationally-televised ceremony honoring troops who served in the Global War on Terrorism. 

The Honor Guard was rated "Outstanding" by the AMC Inspector General Unit Compliance Inspection team and performed 231 funeral details for Air Force retirees and veterans. 

The 48-person team also participated in the funeral for Lt. Col. Jay Zeamer at Arlington National Cemetery and had two Airmen picked to attend the prestigious annual AMC-based Order of the Sword ceremony at Scott Air Force Base, Ill.
