Latest AFSO21 successes at McGuire Published May 4, 2007 By Senior Airman Danielle Johnson 305th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs MCGUIRE AIR FORCE BASE, NJ. -- Air Force Smart Operations for the 21st Century is changing the way Airmen around the world do business, and McGuire AFB is no exception. Here is a brief description of a few recent Rapid Improvement Events here: - A Mobile Composite Tool Kit has been designed to serve the Airmen of the 305th Maintenance Group. Previously, 605th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron maintainers would have to travel down the flightline to the Consolidated CTK, check out the tools they needed and then return them when they were finished, which took valuable time away from their primary mission -- maintenance. The Mobile CTK is essentially a truck carrying tools, which delivers tools to the Airmen already at the aircraft. The Mobile CTK uses a wireless tool accountability system to keep track of the tools, which allows tools to be issued from or returned to either the Mobile CTK truck or the CTK itself, while maintaining continuous accountability. Overall, the RIE resulted in a significant savings of time and distance traveled, allowing mechanics to accomplish their mission more efficiently. - The AEF Redeploying PAX Movement RIE resulted in a savings of transportation, money and energy and a renewed focus on the customer -- Airmen returning from Iraq. Previously, each unit in the wing independently coordinated returning deployers. Some Airmen were returning not knowing if they had a ride back from the airport and in other cases, multiple vehicles were going to the same location to pick up Airmen from different groups. Now, all groups are coordinated through one control authority, eliminating the confusion and waste. - The Air Force Web Health Assessment is an automated information application, which will replace the AF Form 507 Health History Questions/Interval History currently completed by individuals during their Preventive Health Assessment. It will reduce PHA visits to the Medical Group by 50 percent and save both patients and health care providers time and energy. Eligible patients can complete the Web HA at home or work. Health care teams have immediate access to the completed surveys and review the survey and medical records to determine if further action is needed. The Web HA takes approximately 16 minutes to complete.
