Airman wins Air Force Enlisted IMA of the Year

The Travis Individual Mobilization Augmentee of the Year awards were announced recently naming a Travis Airman the Enlisted IMA of the Year.

Special Agent Denny Wood, Air Force Office of Special Investigations special agent, won in the enlisted category of the award.

The award is earned through an overview of an individuals accomplishments as a Reservist.

"Agent Wood volunteered to deploy to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom, which was his second deployment after returning from Iraq," said Lt. Col. Stan Robinson, AFOSI Detachment 303 commander. "He took the tour that an active duty person would had to have taken, therefore saving us one more person on the job here."

As a Reservist, Agent Wood also put his full-time civilian career as a police officer on hold to serve the Air Force while deployed. Among his accomplishments stateside, he also served as a tactical instructor for his sheriff's office Special Weapons and Tactics team which involved creating, organizing and instructing various training sessions.

In order to win, Agent Wood was first nominated and won at the wing level, he was then recommended and won at the command level and finally won at the Air Force level, explained Colonel Robinson.

Special Agent Wood was honored during a ceremony at Travis April 5 for his winning of the Best Enlisted IMA at the command level and also for the announcement of his win at the Air Force level.

"Agent Wood is an incredible force multiplier and a true part of the team," said Colonel Robinson. "His professionalism is what sets him apart and I'd take 100 more like him."
