St. Louis selected for Air Force Week Published Dec. 8, 2006 By Tony Joyner AMCNS SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Air Force officials announced Tuesday that the St. Louis metro area was selected as one of the six locations to host an "Air Force Week" in 2007. Air Force Week activities are scheduled in and around St. Louis from July 2-8 and will culminate July 7-8 with the Scott Air Force Base Open House and Airshow. The weeklong event gives area residents an opportunity to see Air Force aircraft and meet Airmen from the Air Force's active, Reserve and National Guard components who are engaged in the Global War on Terror. Air Force Week is dedicated to telling the amazing story of these Airmen and thanking the people of St. Louis for their tremendous support. The inaugural Air Force Week took place in St. Louis August 6-13, 2006. Due to its tremendous success, the Air Force decided to return to St. Louis in 2007 and expand the Air Force Week program to five additional cities. The other locations selected for Air Force Weeks are Phoenix, Sacramento, the New England region, Honolulu and Atlanta.
