Screening procedures heightened at AMC terminals Published Aug. 15, 2006 SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Travelers transiting through Air Mobility Command terminals around the world are facing new security measures implemented by the Transportation Security Administration in response to the overseas arrests of a number of extremists engaged in a plot to destroy multiple passenger aircraft flying from the United Kingdom to the United States. "All AMC owned and operated terminals have heightened screening procedures to comply with TSA's addition of fluids to their prohibited list," said Col. Tonja Brickhouse, chief, Air Transportation Division, Directorate of Logistics, Headquarter AMC. "Travelers should anticipate closer scrutiny of their carry on bags at all AMC terminals." AMC passengers will be advised that objects identified by the TSA as prohibited in the cabin of the aircraft must be secured in their checked baggage or be confiscated. Any prohibited items identified in a passenger's hand-carried baggage will be placed in checked baggage or disposed of appropriately. According to the TSA, no liquids or gels of any kind will be permitted in carry-on baggage. This includes all beverages, shampoo, suntan lotion, creams, tooth paste, hair gel, and other items of similar consistency. Exceptions include baby formula, breast milk and juice if a baby or small child is traveling; prescription medicine with a name that matches the passenger's ticket; and insulin and essential other non-prescription medicines. The full listing of prohibited/restricted items may be viewed on the TSA web site at http://www.tsa.gov, see "Travelers Tips and prohibited items." "It is our intent to provide a safe flying environment for all who pass through AMC terminals, as well as our AMC aircrew," said Colonel Brickhouse. "We will continue to implement these measures in accordance with TSA guidance."
