Air Mobility Command, Airlift/Tanker Association hosts Technology Days 2006

  • Published
Air Mobility Command and the Airlift/Tanker Association held the third annual AMC Technology Days here May 8-10. “Harnessing Technologies to Increase Warfighter’s Speed and Precision” was the forum theme.

Technology Days brought together Mobility Air Force operators, Air Force Research Lab, and defense industry representatives to share technologies and ideas capable of transforming mobility operations. During his opening remarks, General Duncan McNabb, AMC commander, described how new technologies have enabled AMC to transform aeromedical evacuation and save countless lives by reducing the time it takes to move wounded soldiers from the battlefield to major military treatment facilities.

Highlights of the three-day event included 19 exhibits and 60 briefings by industry and research labs that covered an array of new technologies. Some of the technologies presented included: wireless cockpit multi-function displays, cargo screening, autonomous approach and landing systems, improved air refueling, and C4 data link networks.

More than 180 industry and lab representatives and 350 AMC staff personnel attended the event. Col. Joe Stephans, Chief of the AMC Requirements Division, sees Tech Days as a “win/win event for AMC and industry. Every level within the Headquarters AMC staff has the opportunity to see presentations on the newest programs industry is working on while industry has the chance to show off their latest projects and gain feedback from the AMC staff.”
