It’s been a year of major accomplishments and many firsts for Team Fairchild’s 92nd Security Forces Squadron. Whether it was supporting the relief operations for Tsunami-struck Asia, participating in counter-drug operations in South America or providing non-stop support for Global War on Terrorism, Fairchild defenders have provided security across the globe in more than 20 countries and four continents.

The staff’s hard work and dedication to excellence resulted in earning Headquarters Air Mobility Command’s Outstanding Medium Unit Award for 2005—an honor which hadn’t been bestowed to the squadron since 1996.

“We have a great team of professionals in the squadron making the mission happen at home station and while deployed,” said Maj. Philip Holmes, 92nd Security Forces Squadron commander.

Great leadership and an untiring sense of selfless dedication of the members are what the squadron’s key personnel attribute to this victory.

“At the end of the day, it’s about our men and women putting their own needs aside to fulfill our mission requirements,” said 2nd Lt. John Farmer, 92nd SFS assistant operations officer. “They pay the price for our freedom.”

“The leaders, from the squadron commander to the wing level, have also made a tremendous amount of difference in our personnel’s performance,” said Senior Master Sgt. Timothy Cook, 92nd SFS operations superintendent. “They got out of the way allowing us do our jobs but demanded that we strive only for excellence.”

And excellence was mirrored in the unit’s AMC Inspector General’s “Outstanding” rating—a major criteria to win the award.

“There is no settling for a second rate performance…we strive to be the best in everything we do and continue to improve,” he said. “The men and women of the 92nd Security Forces Squadron exemplify our Total Force. Everyone to include civil service, active duty, Guardsmen and Reservists keeps us moving forward.”
