CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- Charleston AFB has made accessing personal information easier by
installing three "Air Force Onestop" interactive computer
kiosks. According to Air Mobility Command officials, Charleston is the
first base in the command to test and implement the kiosk system.
By using the kiosks, which look similar to ATM
machines, Airmen can find out a variety of information, including finance
and personnel matters, housing and health and wellness information, and a
variety of other military-related issues and base services.
"The kiosk allows members to do a wide range of
things," added 2nd Lt. Krista Torres-Leaman, 437th Comptroller
Squadron deputy financial services officer, "like look at the virtual
MPF, MyPay, print maps of the base, etc."
To reach a majority of the base population, the
kiosks were installed at three high-traffic areas, including the dining
facility, the 437th Medical Group and the base exchange.
"We chose the BX to hit the base population to
include retirees; we chose the dining facility to give Airmen 24-hour
access; and the medical clinic because it's a high-traffic facility for
all military members, to include family members," said Lieutenant
Cohn, financial services officer for the 437th CS.
According to AMC officials, Charleston is one of
three bases in the command testing the information kiosks. The kiosks will
also be tested at Pope AFB, N.C., and Fairchild AFB, Wash.
