POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. (AMCNS) - Members of the 14th Air Support Operations Squadron and the 18th Air Support Operations Group watch as fellow Airmen jump from a C-17 at Fort Bragg's Sicily Drop Zone April 7. The ground team designated the point of impact zone with orange markers called block letters. The C-17 made three passes with the first being a HALO (high-altitude, low-opening) jump followed by two static line jumps. HALO jumps require an elevation of at least 10,000 feet so jumpers can free-fall before deploying their parachutes. During static line jumps, the chute is automatically pulled as the jumper exits the aircraft. (Photo by Senior Airman Becky J. LaRaia)
