Rodeo staff sets stage for high-tech entertainment venue

  • Published
Preparations for the Air Mobility Rodeo 2005 closing ceremony, Friday at 2 p.m., are transforming Hangar 4 from an empty space to a technologically advanced entertainment venue.

We want to give the people the most exciting event we possibly can with all the showmanship and pageantry of a real Hollywood event. We want them, especially the international teams, to have fond memories of Air Mobility Command and the Air Force, said Senior Master Sgt. Tony Lambert, AMCs Multimedia/Video Teleconference program manager.

Talk about lights, camera, and action!

This is a multitasked event, said Sergeant Lambert.

The setup crew includes contractors from the Triamp Group Productions Services; a number of 62nd Civil Engineer Squadron Airmen; cameramen from the 1st Combat Camera Squadron, Charleston Air Force Base, S.C.; a professional production crew from the 367th Training Support Squadron, Hill AFB, Utah; and Master Sgt. Pete Magyari, the multimedia manager and member of the 62nd Communications Squadron.

The civilian contractors, along with the civil engineer electricians, carpenters, and painters, are working on the stage.

The Combat Camera team will put together video clips of events that happened during the competition. The crew from Hill AFB will bring a professional production van for a live broadcast, delivering images to two screens and broadcasting by television satellite to all AMC bases.

We have to design the facility so it has the proper lights on stage for broadcast quality and videotaping, said Sergeant Lambert. The height of the stage, the camera platforms and audio must be taken into account. Were bringing in a TV station on wheels; everything has to come together perfectly.

The team must also consider other technical issues. For example, a wheelchair lift must be available for anyone who may need assistance in getting to the top of the stairs.

This entire venue was set up to be entertaining for the audience, said Sergeant Lambert.

Sergeant Lambert thanked Team McChord for their support in this process.

They have a real-world mission here in addition to the Rodeo mission, and they have done a wonderful job in taking care of our needs, said Sergeant Lambert. I thank them for doing all this and for keeping a positive attitude throughout it all.

Approximately 2,000 people will attend the hour-and-a-half-long event to see who will receive the top 13 awards.

Following the ceremony, a picnic will be held in Hangar 3. Tickets for the picnic are $5 each and can be purchased at the souvenir shop in Hangar 3 through Friday.
