Theyve played for small towns, theyve played for presidents; and this week they are playing for Rodeo 2005 attendees. The U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West will perform at the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as kick off Rainier Ranch festivities each night.

Every nights going to be something different. The 30 musicians are going to be providing just about every kind of music that you can imagine, said Senior Master Sgt. Sharon Johnson, command band manager.

Throughout the week, the band will showcase their diverse talents, playing jazz, ceremonial music, country-western, classic rock, pop and even a bit of salsa.

This will be the first Rodeo that the Band of the Golden West, stationed at Travis Air Force Base, Calif., will participate in. Traditionally, the U.S. Air Force Band of Mid-America from Scott Air Force Base, Ill., has gotten the job.

[McChord Air Force Base] is in the Band of the Golden Wests area of responsibility and theyre very excited and looking forward to being a part of Rodeo, said Sergeant Johnson.

I hope everyone comes out and sees the talent we have at our fingertips, and that they have a good time and enjoy the show!
