AMC names Family Child Care Provider of the Year Published July 5, 2005 A child care provider at Dover AFB, Del., has been named the Air Mobility Command Family Child Care Provider of the Year for 2005. Sheri Goad was officially named the command's top FCC provider during a June 27 video teleconference hosted by Brig. Gen. Del Eulberg, director, AMC Installations and MissionSupport. According to Bette B. Doelger, AMC Family Member Programs specialist, the AMC FCC Provider of the Year is selected based on several criteria, including training and education, professional certificates and membership in professional organizations, notable contributions to the FCC program, community involvement, and significant contributions to the children and families in their care. Ms. Goad is a developmental licensed provider caring for children full time and part time, as well as providing extended duty care. She created a Web site (www.daycarealley.com) which provides resources for parents, providers and prospective providers. She also developed Family Together, an Internet message service keeping deployed military members and their families in touch. The children in her FCC home have adopted a group of six soldiers in Iraq, sending them monthly care packages supporting moral and mission success. Additionally, Ms. Goad serves as a mentor to new providers in the Dover FCC program. As a mentor, she helps new providers set up their home environments, develop lesson plans, and assists providers and their spouses and children in making a smooth transition to becoming a FCC home. Ms. Goad is currently seeking accreditation from the National Association for Family Child Care. "Sheri puts others before herself," said Tech. Sgt Brian Adams, whose children are in Ms. Goad's care. "Her ability to provide an environment that promotes learning, respect [and] love, gives me a sense of trust and assurance that my children are safe and secure." General Eulberg announced Ms. Goad's selection as the command's top FCC provider during a video teleconference with other AMC FCC providers, coordinators and Family Member Programs flight chiefs. Ms. Goad received a certificate and trophy, and each base-level Provider of the Year received a certificate and an engraved pen and pencil set.
