Air Mobility units, people recognized by AFA

Several air mobility units and aircrews were recognized Sept. 12 during the Air Force Association's 2005 Air and Space Conference and Technology Exposition in Washington, D.C.

The AFA awards program recognizes top civilian, military and industry leaders along with individual specialties, teams, crews and units that have made outstanding contributions to the Air Force and air and space power.

Air mobility winners included:

The 62nd Airlift Wing at McChord AFB, Wash., earned a Citation of Honor Award, presented in recognition of the most outstanding contribution by an individual or organization to the development of aerospace power for the betterment of mankind.

In the Crew Award category, the crew of aircraft 50010, 22nd Airlift Squadron, Travis AFB, Calif., captured the Lt. Gen. William H. Tunner Award, presented to the most outstanding airlift crew in the Air Force.

Also in the Crew Award category, Master Sgt. Robert T. Marquez, Headquarters AMC Directorate of Communication and Information, earned the Gen. Billy Mitchell Award for enhancing air warfighting capability.

In the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve Awards category, the 315th Airlift Wing, Charleston AFB, S.C., captured the Outstanding Reserve Unit (Flying Wing) Award, presented each year to the Reserve wing that displays superior performance and outstanding achievements.

Additionally, the Crew of Crome 32, assigned to the 386th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron, earned the Air Force Outstanding Reserve Aircrew Award (The Presidents Award), which recognizes the Air Force Reserve unit that displays outstanding flying achievement and continued superior performance.
