AMC Airmen to be recognized during April 15 banquet

  • Published
The Air Mobility Command Outstanding Airmen and First Sergeant of the Year Banquet is April 15 at the Scott AFB Club.

Attendees at this year's banquet will receive a special coin commemorating the event. The front of the coin contains enlisted ranks (chevrons) circling the Earth, signifying the theme of this year's banquet, "Global Reach Through Enlisted Excellence." The chevrons are riding atop a red and white banner which, on the reverse side of the coin, turns into a blue field with stars.

The coin was designed by award-winning Air Force artist Airman 1st Class Benjamin Lashley, a motion graphics designer with the 375th Communications Squadron here. Airman Lashley captured second place in the fine arts category during the Department of Defense's 2002 MILGRAPH awards competition.

Those who would like to attend the banquet can make their reservations through their local command chief's office. The cost is $22 for club members and $24 for non-members. The dinner menu includes sauted breast of chicken with sauce, signature salad, green beans almondine, parsley new potatoes, and chocolate mousse for dessert.

During the banquet -- which honors the command's 12 Outstanding Airmen and First Sergeant of the Year finalists -- AMC officials will announce the command's four nominees for the Air Force-level competition.
