AMC announces senior officer retirements, assignments

Air Mobility Command officials have announced the following senior officer retirements and assignments:

Retirements:

Col. David W. Smith, deputy commander, 721st Air Mobility Operations Group, Ramstein Air Base, Germany,, will retire effective Jan. 1.

Col. Rex S. Brennan, command public health officer, Office of the Command Surgeon, Headquarters AMC, will retire effective Oct. 1.

Assignments:

Col. Earl D. Matthews, commander, 50th Communications Group, Schreiver AFB, Colo., will become director of communications and information and chief information officer, Headquarters AMC, Scott AFB IL, effective June. He will replace Col Michael J. Basla, who was previously announced.

Lt. Col. John M. Meek, chief, Contingency Validation Branch, Headquarters U.S. Transportation Command, Scott AFB, will replace Colonel Smith, effective September. Colonel Meek was recently selected for promotion.

Lt. Col. Michel L. Bunning, student, National War College, Fort McNair, Washington, D.C., will replace Colonel Brennan, effective June. Colonel Bunning was recently selected for promotion.

Col. Timothy P. Gaffney, chief, Operations Division, Directorate of Installations and Mission Support, Headquarters AMC, will become commander, 96th Civil Engineering Group, Eglin AFB, Fla., effective July.

Col. James G. Kolling, commander, 9th Mission Support Group, Beale AFB, Calif., will replace Colonel Gaffney, effective June.

Col. Kenneth F. Hollenbeck, chief, Military Personnel Plans Division, Directorate of Personnel, Headquarters AMC, will become professor of aerospace studies, AFROTC Detachment 157, Embry-Riddle University, Prescott, Ariz., effective July.

Col. Auston E. Smith, vice commander, 72nd Air Base Wing, Tinker AFB, Okla., will replace Colonel Hollenbeck, effective August.

Col. Peter G. Sands, deputy commander, 62nd Mission Support Group, McChord AFB, Wash., will become commander, 319th Mission Support Group, Grand Forks AFB, N.D., effective August.

Lt. Col. Carla H. Gammon, executive officer to the commander, Headquarters Seventh Air Force, Osan AB, Korea, will replace Colonel Sands, effective July. Colonel Gammon was recently selected for promotion.

Lt. Col. Eddie G. Douglas, director of staff, 319th Mission Support Group, Grand Forks AFB, will become inspector general, 99th Air Base Wing, Nellis AFB, Nev., effective June. Colonel Douglas was recently selected for promotion.

Lt. Col. Philip G. Bradley, chairman, Joint Warfare Studies Department, Air Command and Staff College, Maxwell AFB, Ala., will become deputy commander, 305th Mission Support Group, McGuire AFB, N.J., effective June. Colonel Bradley was recently selected for promotion.

Col. Peter F. Durand, Air Force substance abuse program manager, 89th Medical Operations Squadron, Andrews AFB, Md., will become commander, 59th Medical Operations Squadron, Lackland AFB, Texas, effective July.

Col. Deborah J. Bostock, Family Practice Flight commander, 89th Medical Operations Squadron, Andrews AFB, will become commander, 1st Medical Operations Squadron, Langley AFB, Va., effective June.

Col. Robert A. Mirrielees, deputy, Healthcare Operations Division/Command Dental Surgeon, Office of the Command Surgeon, Headquarters AMC, will become Pediatric Dentistry Element chief, 375th Dental Squadron, Scott AFB, effective October.

Col. Donald J. Swierenga, commander, 4th Medical Group, Seymour-Johnson AFB, N.C., will replace Colonel Mirrielees, effective September.
