AMC announces senior officer retirement, assignments

Air Mobility Command officials have announced the following senior officer retirement and assignments:

Retirement:

Col. Clarence J. Evans, director, Global Channel Operations Division, Tanker Airlift Control Center, Scott AFB, will retire effective Aug. 1.

Assignments:

Lt. Col. Thomas J. Dupre, chief, Budget Division, Directorate of Financial Management and Comptroller, Headquarters AMC, Scott AFB, will become chief, Force Analysis Division, Air Force Cost Analysis Agency, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., effective in June. Colonel Dupre has been selected for promotion.

Lt. Col. Michael E. Phelps, military assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management and Comptroller, Pentagon, Washington D.C., will replace Colonel Dupre, effective in July. Colonel Phelps has been selected for promotion.

Col. William J. Rumpel, chief, Airspace and Airfield Operations Division, Directorate of Operations, Headquarters AMC, will become chief, Air Operations Command and Control Division, Directorate of Operations, Headquarters U.S. Air Forces in Europe, Ramstein Air Base, Germany, effective in July.

Lt. Col. William A. Malec, deputy commander, 17th Mission Support Group, Goodfellow AFB, Texas, will replace Colonel Rumpel, effective in June. Colonel Malec has been selected for promotion.

Lt. Col. Jeffrey S. Woolston, commander, 55th Communications Squadron, Offutt AFB, Neb., will become chief, Program Management Division, Directorate of Communications and Information, Headquarters AMC, effective in July. Colonel Woolston has been selected for promotion.

Col. Carol L. Vermillion, commander, 43rd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, Pope AFB, N.C., will become commander, 86th Medical Group, Ramstein AB, effective in September.

Lt. Col. Judith Schaffer, nurse researcher, 81st Medical Group, Keesler AFB, Miss., will replace Colonel Vermillion, effective in August. Colonel Schaffer has been selected for promotion.
