AMC relocates KC-135 simulator

  • Published
Air Mobility Command will relocate a KC-135 pilot simulator from McConnell Air Force Base, Kan. to Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base, Ohio, in an effort to maximize simulator utilization across the mobility enterprise.

As the KC-46A is fielded, displaced KC-135 simulators will be relocated across the total force of active duty and air reserve component installations. AMC, in coordination with the Air National Guard, identified four KC-135 pilot flight simulators and one KC-135 Boom Operator Weapon System Trainer to be relocated as a result of the KC-46A allocations to McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., and Pease Air National Guard Base, N.H.

The first KC-135 pilot flight simulator and the BOWST were relocated from McConnell Air Force Base, Kan. to Altus Air Force Base, Okla., in April 2015. The second pilot simulator will be relocated from Pease Air National Guard Base, N.H. to Pittsburgh Air National Guard Base, Pa. in October 2016. The third pilot simulator is scheduled to be relocated from McConnell Air Force Base, Kan. to Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base, Ohio in October 2017. A decision on the relocation of the remaining simulator is expected at a later date.

AMC operates 19 KC-135 pilot flight simulators and nine BOWSTs at 13 regional sites worldwide to support 42 KC-135 units.
