Top picks compete for AMC Icon Published Nov. 6, 2014 By Headquarters Air Mobility Command A1 SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Air Mobility Command conducted its seventh annual AMC ICON program and would like to congratulate all of our 2014 finalists. This year's AMC ICON is 1st Lt. Chad Slayton from Joint Base Charleston, S.C. with Senior Airman Andrew Hicks from Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D., and Senior Airman Tim Sentz from Scott AFB, Ill., rounding out the top three performers. This year's ICON command finals were once again judged via video performances of base-level competitions versus a live performance held at the Scott Club. "The competition was once again extremely tight and it's always astounding to see the extremely high level of talent throughout Air Mobility Command," said Mr. Scott Black, AMC ICON Program Manager. "AMC ICON is a great vehicle to further demonstrate the wide range of diversity and resilience of our Airmen." The other base-level AMC ICON 2014 finalists were: - Airman 1st Class Joshua Dinan representing Dover AFB, Del. - Master Sgt. Mike Brown representing Fairchild AFB, Wash. - Staff Sgt. Michael McDaniel representing Little Rock AFB, Ark. - Tech. Sgt. Sonya Bryson representing MacDill AFB, Fla. - Airman 1st Class Jaimes Erwin-Spring representing McConnell AFB, Kan. - Senior Airman Shannon Moskowitz representing Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. - Staff Sgt. Megan Lewis representing Travis AFB, Calif. AMC ICON is loosely based on the hit TV show, American Idol, and features the vocal talents of active duty members, to include Air National Guard, Reserve and enroute units, from all AMC installations. The top three finishers receive cash awards of $1,000, $600 and $400, respectively. The celebrity panel of judges that selected the best of the best, brings years of music and entertaining experience to the table. This year's judges included St. Louis media personality, "Smash" from The Smash Band, Dr. Stella Markou, Director of Vocal Studies at the University of Missouri in St. Louis as well as a noted recording artist and theatrical performer. Rounding out the panel of judges was Capt. Jason Plosch, Commander, USAF Band of Mid-America.
