Airmen train with civil authorities to prepare for natural disasters
Capt. Tracy Minke, 187th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron flight nurse, instructs two litter carry volunteers when to approach the aircraft to pick up patients during a national disaster exercise, Ultimate Caduceus 2014, at Boise, Idaho, April 1, 2014. Both technicians are assigned to the 375th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, Scott AFB, Il. During Ultimate Caduceus, part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s National Capstone Exercise, AE members provided medical support, processed and transferred patients. Utlimate Caduceus 14 illustrates the critical partnership between Mobility Air Forces and the interagency, in this case FEMA, by exercising disaster relief operations. The aeromedical teams were comprised of more than 18 AE crew members from Pope Army Airfield, N.C., Scott AFB, Ill., and Cheyenne ANG base, Wyo.(U.S. Air Force photo/ Staff Sgt. Stephenie Wade)
