A member of the 319th Contracting Flight here has been named Air Mobility Command's 2013 Outstanding Enlisted Contracting Member in the NCO Category.

"I am humbled that my unit even considered me for this award," said Tech. Sgt. Elizabeth Squires, 319th CONF contracting officer.

"I am proud that I am able to represent the 319th Contracting Flight by receiving this great honor."

According to her leadership, Squires has been very busy in the past year.

"She had her hands in almost every acquisition that came out of our flight," said her supervisor, Master Sgt. Darrell Haas.

As one of three contracting officers in the flight, Squires oversees an element of Airmen and civilians, ensuring work is correct prior to contracts being signed and money obligated. However, Squires also filled in as a team lead for the flight while a new lead was being hired. Even after a permanent team lead was found, Squires continued to operate in the position while the new hire settled in.

Her work in the flight and achievements as Distinguished Graduate at the NCO Academy made Squires submission for the AMC award almost a foregone conclusion.

"Squires is the type of Airman that every leader would like to have," Haas said. "You do not have to tell her twice what needs to be done, and most of the time she is out in front of it before you ask for it to be done."

Squires considered the support she receives from her fellow Airmen and co-workers to be a key factor in her ability to accomplish the mission.

"I am very fortunate that my leadership provides me opportunities to excel," she said. "They are extremely supportive and ensure that I have the tools and training to achieve success. Contracting is a team sport and I am very lucky to be surrounded by such an amazing team."
