Ninety seconds. A lot can happen in 90 seconds. It can pass by quickly or, in the sport of boxing, it can seem like a lifetime. It only took the boxing judges in Sacramento 90 seconds to determine the boxer from Travis had beaten his opponent.

Staff Sgt. Justin Cureton, 60th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron communication and navigation systems specialist, won by decision in a match Saturday in Sacramento.

It was a tough bout because I was fighting a guy with way more experience," Cureton said.
"I stuck to the game plan, listened to my coach and we were able to pull off the victory."

Cureton fought in the 150 pound weight class for three one-minute rounds. There was a fleeting moment when he had to dig deep to keep fighting, he said.

"Our hard work really paid off throughout the fight especially when I was caught with a really good rib shot in the second round and was able to continue fighting even harder," Cureton said. "All said and done it was great work and a lot of fun."

The victory made Cureton's fighting record one win and one loss. His next fight is scheduled May 26 in Vacaville. Cureton hopes to make the Air Force boxing team in the fall.
