The sun isn't even up when Senior Airman Charisse Starr, 6th Force Support Squadron force management technician, steps foot into the gym to begin her daily training workout routine.

"I've always been into fitness," said Starr. "However, it wasn't until I saw Ms. Nathalia Melo grace the cover of a fitness magazine when I was inspired to compete in fitness competitions."

Starr has been training for the past eight weeks to compete in her first fitness competition on June 7, 2014. Starr is competing in the National Physique Competition Tampa Bay Classic, women's bikini, class A.

"My motivation comes from curiosity, honestly," said Starr "I'm curious to see what I can do with my own physique. We are our own architects for our body, and I think it's amazing what the human body can do, and what we are capable of if we just push ourselves to see change and results."

Starr works out five to six days a week to help better prepare for her first competition. Her training includes mostly weight training and cardiovascular activities.

"It's a challenge but I've learn to stay focused, and I've learned to follow through with something I've been working so hard for," said Starr.

Starr looks forward to the competition and continuing to progress and compete again in the future.
