Families and students gather for the final reunion of the remaining crewmembers of the USS Franklin (CV 13) May 17, 2013, at Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum, Mount Pleasant, S.C. The Franklin participated in Pacific Theater operations during World War II and was in service from 1944 to 1945. The ship is best known for the attack that took place March 19, 1945, when two Japanese bombs struck the ship. It is estimated that more than 800 individuals were killed and nearly 500 wounded.
