A Joint Precision Airdrop System (JPADS) bundle lands at its designated target during the first Big Country JPADS Capabilities Training Exercise April 11, 2013, at Fort Hood, Texas. Traditional airdrops by Air Force airlifters are at altitudes of 400-1,000 feet. With JPADS, those same bundles can be dropped and guided from altitudes as high as 25,000 feet with pinpoint accuracy allowing the aircraft to safely avoid enemy ground fire.
