A memorial to Senior Airman Bradley Smith is displayed at the Hedrick Stadium track during the Tactical Air Control Party annual 24-hour Challenge Run, March 28-29. Airman Smith, along with three other service members, were killed during a complex ambush after a roadside bomb detonated near a platoon he was serving with Jan 3, 2010. The 26 year-old Airman volunteered to accompany the platoon medic to help treat and retrieve the wounded service members. A second bomb detonated, claiming his life. Tactical Air Control Party Airmen assigned to Pope Army Airfield, Fort Bragg, N.C., units participated in the second annual worldwide TACP 24-hour Run Challenge fundraising event, held to honor fallen TACP brothers in arms and their families.
