Senior Airman Bryan Queen, 628th Logistics Readiness Squadron Fuels Flight, Forward Area Refueling Point team, explains FARP operations to Chief Master Sgt. Martin Klukas, U.S. Transportation Command senior enlisted leader, from Scott Air Force Base, Ill., at Joint Base Charleston – Air Base, S.C., July 12, 2012. The FARPs mission is to hot refuel, which is to refuel while the engines are operating, from a tanker aircraft (C-17 Globemaster III) to a receiver aircraft, under the cover of darkness in an austere environment. Klukas is the principal advisor to the combatant commander for all matters concerning joint force integration, career development, utilization and sustainment of more than 150,000 enlisted personnel serving USTRANSCOM's air, land and sea components throughout the world.
