AMC Energy Initiatives
Flight bags can weigh more than 70 pounds a piece. AMC is leaning forward by looking into Electronic Flight Bags, which would convert the bags of maps and operations manuals onto electronic tablets. Electronic Flight Bags could potentially save millions of dollars by reducing weight on the aircraft -- small numbers add up -- and saving on printing costs. In this photo: Capt. Chris Kidd, a 90th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron pilot, loads equipment onto a KC-135R Stratotanker aircraft before a flight July 20, 2011, at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey.
